When you submit an application or during the processing of a case at the Immigration Service you can choose to be represented by another person, or you can consent to another person helping you in your case. You can also give a power of attorney to a journalist or a media in order for them to request the right of access.

Power of attorney for party representative

You can grant a power of attorney for someone to be your party representative. This means that the person will take over your rights in the case and that the Immigration Service will send all letters and decisions to your party representative. Your party representative may also, among other things, submit information to your case and make statements on your behalf.

A party representative can, for example, be a legal advisor. If your party representative is a lawyer in Denmark, there is no need to give the lawyer power of attorney.

You can complete a power of attorney form if you wish to have a party representative who is not a lawyer.

Get the power of attorney form

When the form is completed, you can send it to the Immigration Service via our standard contact form. Select the topic of your case at the Immigration Service.

Consent for someone to assist you with your case

As an alternative to a party representative, you can give your consent for someone to help you communicate with the Immigration Service. The person can receive information in your case and request postponement of deadlines in the case but does not take over your rights in the case.

This could be a family member or someone from a municipality or voluntary organization.

You must fill out a consent form if you wish for someone to help you with your case.

When the consent form is completed, you can send it to the Immigration Service via the contact form for consent below.

Power of attorney for journalist or media outlet

You can give power of attorney to a journalist or a media outlet to access your cases at the Immigration Service in connection with a press inquiry. In that case, you can complete a power of attorney for the press.

Generally about power of attorneys

You can always withdraw a power of attorney or a consent by contacting the Immigration Service.

Normally, you can only select one person at a time to help you with your case. Therefore, you cannot have more than one party representative at the same time or consent to a person helping you if you already have a party representative.
