The maintenance requirement

The Danish-resident spouse must, as a rule, not have received assistance under the Active Social Policy Act or the Integration Act (e.g. cash benefits or self-support and repatriation benefits) within the last 3 years before the decision — and until the permit is granted.

Certain benefits are excluded, such as one-off payments or aid related to specific personal circumstances. The rules are complex, and a legal review is often necessary.
