The housing requirement in family reunification
The Danish-resident spouse must be able to provide suitable, independent housing for the family. The home must meet a minimum size standard, and the number of registered residents must be proportionate to the floor area.
Key points
- The home must, as a rule, be rented or owned for at least 1.5 years from the application date.
- Rooms without a private kitchen/bath generally do not meet the requirement.
- Certain housing types (e.g. student housing, temporary housing) are typically excluded.
