When the Immigration Service processes an asylum application, information is required about the conditions in the applicant’s country of origin. Therefore we collect country information. Information relevant to other types of cases, such as family reunification cases, is also collected.
The Immigration Service’s unit Country of Origin Information collects and analyses background information on conditions in the applicants’ countries of origin. The employees of the unit are excluded from the processing of any applications and are not involved in the ruling of cases.
