EU right of residence
EU rules give EU/EEA citizens the right to reside and work in Denmark without an ordinary residence permit. Family members (including from third countries) can obtain a derived right of residence if the EU citizen exercises their free movement.
Advantages over national rules
- No 24-year rule.
- No attachment requirement.
- Lower financial requirements.
EU residence rights are administered by SIRI and must be registered within 3 months of entry.
